It was the early 70’s, my college years at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. I was studying art and loved this time in my life. During this time I met Paul Milosevich and he in return introduced me to his friend Joe Ely who had just returned from Nashville. At a dance hall near the edge of town we soaked up the music of the Joe Ely Band.
From sell out solo performances to duets with Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, the Clash, Linda Ronstadt, Rosie Flores to name but a few and from opening acts to
original motion picture soundtrack albums, Joe Ely remains a Texas original. Ely has gained the respect of his friends and his peers, including such kindred spirits as Bruce Springsteen, who contributes vocals on one of his late albums, along with old friend Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and new friend Raul Malo of the Mavericks. Obviously, Joe continues to play as though the road goes on forever and the party will never end.
And now the road leads to Mason, Texas and the Historical Odeon Theater.

Yes, I will be there in the audience. Listening and swaying to the music with my eyes closed, looping my life memories back at the time when I first heard Joe Ely’s music.
And the road of life loops on and on and on…………
